María Brau has a Ph.D. from Georgetown University in Political Theory and a Master's degree from Fordham in Romance Languages and Literature. She joined the FBI after retiring from Howard University, where she was Professor of European History. Currently, she serves as program manager for the Testing Management System at the FBI Language Training and Assessment Unit. |

Ray
Clifford is Associate Dean of the Brigham Young University
(BYU) College of Humanities and Director of the Center for
Language Studies at BYU and is President Elect of the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages. He received a Ph.D. in Foreign Language
Education from the University of Minnesota in 1977, and a
Doctor of Letters, honoris causa from Middlebury College in
2003. He led the academic programs as Chancellor of the Defense Language
Institute in Monterey, CA and has received several
national honors and awards including The Ron Walton Award
for support to the Less Commonly Taught Languages, the Nelson
H. Brooks Award for Outstanding Leadership in the Profession
of Foreign Language Teaching, and the Vice President’s
“Hammer Award” for reinventing U.S. government. |

The President and Chief Executive of the World Trade Center Utah, Lew Cramer most recently
served as a Managing Director of Summit Ventures International, LLC (an affiliate of Interlink
Capital Strategies), which is a Washington D.C. and Utah-based strategic business consulting firm
focusing on international business development, major project financing and advocacy issues for
both domestic and international companies.
Previously Mr. Cramer served as the Director General of the U.S. & Foreign Commercial Service. He is chair of the Global Affairs Council of the American Management Association, member of the
U.S. Department of State's International Communications and Information Policy Advisory Board,
former international advisor to the Chair of the International Chamber of Commerce in Paris, former
Board Member of the U.S. Telecommunications Training Institute and teaches international business
at Georgetown University. He has served on several non-profit boards and has lectured extensively
on international business and government topics around the world. He has worked extensively in the global telecommunications and broadband sectors, including as
Vice President for MediaOne International and U S WEST, responsible for their international government
and multilateral financial institution relations and public policy for numerous wireless and
broadband investments in over thirty countries worldwide. From an initial capital investment of
approximately $2 billion, these international investments were valued at over $15 billion when
merged into AT&T in 2000. Mr. Cramer holds B.A. and J.D. degrees from Brigham Young University. |

Dr. Jennifer DeCamp is a Principal Network and Distributed Systems Engineer at MITRE Corporation, where she works with foreign language and multilingual technology. Dr. DeCamp supports the U.S. government in their analysis and solutions for foreign language needs, mainly through the government Foreign Language Committee. She formerly worked with foreign language technology at Xerox Corporation. Dr. DeCamp is a member of the Interagency Language Roundtable, the Federal Society of Linguists, the American Translators Association, the Association of Computational Linguists, the Defense Exchange Committee on Language Efforts, and the Defense Language Working Group. |

Donald
is an industry analyst, author, and corporate strategist
with expertise in business- and marketing-focused application
of technology. He lectures and writes frequently on the
topics of online marketing technologies, content management,
high-end application development, knowledge management,
and globalization. His book, "Business Without Borders:
A Strategic Guide to Global Marketing" was published
in 2002 by John Wiley & Sons and is available at online
booksellers and at select book stores. He is a member emeritus
of the Board of Directors of GALA (the Globalization and
Localization Association), chairs the Language Standards
for Global Business summit, was co-chair of the Internationalization
and Unicode Conference (IUC) Committee, is on the jury for
the American Society of Competitiveness Journal of Global
Competitiveness, and served as a judge for the SIIA CODIE
Awards. He has helped coordinate some translation and document
processing activities for the Chernobyl Children Project.

Keiran Dunne holds a Ph.D. in French Civilization from The Pennsylvania State University, as well as a D.E.A. from the Université des Sciences Humaines de Strasbourg and a maîtrise from the Université de Haute-Bretagne/Rennes II in France . He has extensive experience as a localization subcontractor for Fortune 500 companies and other corporate clients, and draws upon this experience in his courses at Kent State University . His primary research interests are localization and project management. He is the editor of the recently published volume, Perspectives on Localization, and he is currently working on a computer-assisted translation and localization textbook. He is a member of the Institute of Localization Professionals and the American Translators Association. |

Marian
S. Greenfield, President of the American Translators Association
and Chair of Professional Development, is the owner of msgreenfield
Translations and formerly managed translation services at
JP Morgan. She translated in New York's Financial District
for 20 years and is now a full-time translation industry consultant
and freelancer translating financial and legal documents from
Spanish, Portuguese and French into English. Marian teaches
financial translation at New York University and at The University
of Chicago and was a visiting Professor of Translation in
the Master's in Translation Program at the University of Puerto
Rico. Marian
organizes professional development seminars and conferences
around the U.S. She lectures around the world on financial
translation, building a freelance translation business,
teaching translation and translation internships and is
active in mentoring translators.

Everette Jordan is a member
of the Defense Intelligence Senior Executive Service and the
founding Director of the National Virtual Translation Center
(NVTC). The NVTC is a Director of National Intelligence organization
whose mission it is to find new national resources to assist
the government in translating large numbers of documents in
many languages. Over the course of his career, Mr. Jordan
has worked as a translator in Russian and Arabic, but has also
studied Spanish, German, French and Hebrew . In addition to
holding a number of translation, technology and managerial
positions, he has been the Chairman of the Director of Central
Intelligence's Foreign Language Committee, and a Staff Member
with the Joint House and Senate Intelligence Committee Inquiry
in the causes of 9/11. He has received the Defense Meritorious
Civilian Service Award and was selected to be one of the 2004
Top 100 Federal Executives. He holds a B.A. in Russian Studies
from the University of MD
and an M.A. in Theology from St. Mary's Seminary in Baltimore. |

Dr. Koby earned a Ph.D. in German Linguistics from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. His research interests lie in translation studies, translation theory, and translation pedagogy. He has edited and co- translated a major work on translation theory, co-authored a dictionary of translation teaching terminology, and published on Martin Luther's translation practice. Together with Dr. Brian Baer, he recently edited Beyond the Ivory Tower: Rethinking Translation Pedagogy, Volume XII of the ATA Monograph Series. Dr. Koby teaches undergraduate courses in German translation, phonetics, foreign language and culture, and Business German, and graduate Commercial/Legal/Financial translation, as well as occasionally teaching localization and literary translation. He is an ATA-certified German>English translator and a certified Oral Proficiency Interview tester. He is currently president of the American Translation Studies Association. |

Bernhard Kohlmeier is director of localization futures at Microsoft Corporation in Redmond, Washington. A native of Munich, Germany, Mr. Kohlmeier has spent the majority of his career in the localization field. With a background in software development and languages Mr. Kohlmeier has focused on enabling software for internationalization, natural language content retrieval, and the cultural and political correctness of software and content. He has extensive experience in the localization of encyclopedic titles for multiple locales and was involved in many generations of software titles targeted to a range of audiences, from children's and educational titles to developer and operating system platforms. Mr. Kohlmeier is a member of Microsoft's Localization Leadership Team.
In his role as Director of the Integrated Product Services (IPS) team in Windows International, Bernhard is responsible for localization vendor management, international language services, international packaging as well as vendor process excellence on a company wide scale. A native of Germany, Bernhard has spent the majority of his career in localization with a focus on business, international content and process engineering.

Mr. Mazza is the Translation Division Chief, Office of Language Services, U.S. Department of State. The Office of Language Services provides interpreting, translating, and other
language services needed to conduct foreign relations with the non-English
speaking nations and peoples of the world. LS responds to the language needs of
both the Department of State and the White House.

Jaap van der Meer is founder and director of Translation Automation User Society (TAUS) and a 25-year-plus veteran in the global language industries. He established a software localization company in the Netherlands in 1980 and published Language Technology and Electric Word magazines. His company INK developed and published one of the first translation memory software products. |

Alfred Mockett was appointed Chairman and Chief Executive of Motive, Inc., an Austin, Texas based, publicly traded software and services company, in February 2006. He continues to serve as Chairman of Corinthian Capital LLC, a privately held, Virginia based investment company. He was co-author of a report on international studies and foreign language education published by the CED (Committee for Economic Development), a Washington DC think tank. His career in technology and telecommunications spans more than 30 years, working in both private and public companies. Prior to joining Motive, Mr. Mockett served as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of American Management Systems Inc. (AMSY), the $1 billion IT consulting and professional services company which was acquired in 2004 by the CGI group. Before AMS, Mr. Mockett served on the Executive Committee of BT (formerly British Telecommunications) for 10 years in a range of divisional capacities, including Chief Executive Officer of BT Ignite, BT's $6 billion international broadband data and applications services business. Prior to this role, Mr. Mockett led BT's initiative to bring together all of the company's disparate international activities under BT Worldwide, a single division to deliver on BT's vision to be a major player in the global communications marketplace. He has also held executive positions at Memorex Telex and General Computer Systems Inc. Mr. Mockett graduated with honors from the University of London. |

Dr.
Alexander Raïnof grew up in France, Italy, Mexico and the
United States. He attended Boston University and Harvard University
as an undergraduate, and received his M.A. and Ph.D. in Comparative
Literature from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. He
is a certified Interpreter for the Federal, State, and Los
Angeles County Courts, as well as for NAJIT and all State
Agencies in California.
Doctor Raïnof is an internationally known scholar who has
published extensively in the areas of literature, linguistics,
translation, and interpretation. He has served as a consultant
in the areas of examination and training of translators and
interpreters for various government agencies as well as for
professional organizations such as ATA, CCIA, NAJIT, etc.
He is currently an Associate Professor in the Romance, German
and Russian Languages and Literatures Department at California
State University, Long Beach (CSULB). He is the Chair of the
Board of Directors of the National Association of Judiciary
Interpreters and Translators (NAJIT).

In addition to being over English translation at the United Nations, Mr. Sekel is now Deputy Director of the Documentation Division in the Department of General Assembly and Conference Management (DGACM) at the United Nations. He oversees translation into and out of the six official languages of the United Nations: English, French, Russian, Arabic, Chinese and Spanish. The United Nations Secretariat has recently embarked upon a programme of outreach to translator training institutions and professional associations with the aim of communicating to potential recruits and external collaborators its requirements for language professionals. |

Gregory M. Shreve is Professor of modern and classical languages at Kent State University specializing in translation studies, terminology studies and computer-assisted translation. Shreve holds a Ph.D. in Anthropological Linguistics;( Ohio State University ) and a postdoctoral Certificate of Advanced Study in computer and information science ( University of Pittsburgh ). He is co-founder (with Albrecht Neubert) and director of the Institute for Applied Linguistics, home of one of America's leading graduate professional translator training programs and of the American Translator's Association monograph series. In 1993 he held the Karl Brugmann Chair of Linguistics and Translation at the University of Leipzig, Germany. A leading American proponent of empirical translation studies, he is General Editor of the monograph series Translation Studies and the occasional papers series Kent Forum in Translation Studies. He has written, co-edited, and co-authored several books including The Genesis of Structures in African Narrative (with Ojo Arewa), Translation as Text (with Albrecht Neubert), Text and Meaning (with Gert J&#auml;ger and Klaus Gommlich), Basic Issues in Translation Studies, (with Albrecht Neubert and Klaus Gommlich), and Cognitive Processes in Translation and Interpreting (with Joseph H. Danks). |

Lew Tarnopol is a localization program manager for Intel Americas, Inc., managing the localization of Intel’s customer support website. He has over 13 years of experience in localization program management at companies, including Emery Worldwide, Responsys Inc., and Intel Corporation. |

Sue
Ellen Wright is a Professor of German and a member of the
Kent State University Institute for Applied Linguistics, where
she teaches computer applications for translators and German
to English technical translation. She is the co-compiler (with
Professor Gerhard Budin of the University of Vienna) of the
Handbook for Terminology Management and the author of many
articles on applied terminology management in industry. She
is active as a terminology trainer and consultant for companies
and institutions implementing terminology management. Wright
is chair of the American Translators Association (ATA) Terminology
Committee and is ATA-certified (German-English). She is active
in the national and international standards community (American
Society for Testing and Materials and the International Organization
for Standardization) and chairs the U.S. mirror committee
(Technical Advisory Group) for ISO Technical Committee 37,
Terminology and language and content resources. In addition
to terminology standards, she has been an active member of
the US group elaborating a standard for translation quality
management.

Jost is an ATA-accredited English-to-German translator, a consultant in the field of localization and translation, and the presenter of the successful Tool Box seminars. A native of Hamburg , Germany , Jost earned a Ph.D. in the field of Chinese history and linguistics from the University of Hamburg in 1996. His dissertation and many of his earlier publications deal with the history of translation in China. Jost joined the translation industry in 1997, supervising company operations for a staff of 60 at a localization and technical documentation provider. He has led major localization projects in numerous environments, including C/C++, Java, HTML, and SGML/XML. In 1999, Jost co-founded International Writers' Group on the Oregon coast (www.internationalwriters.com). In 2003 he published a computer guide for translators and has distributed a biweekly technical newsletter for translators since the beginning of 2004.
